''Brain Strainers'' is an early music video game designed for the ColecoVision. It is one of the first video game clones of the popular 1970s audio game, ''Simon'',〔''(COLGAM0005 - Brain Strainers )''. Atari2600.com. Retrieved 7 December 2008.〕〔Santulli, Joe. ''Parappa the Rapper''. Digital Press. 7 October 2005.〕 which became a large hit in the early 1980s. The game was recognized by magazines such as the Atari-centric ''Antic'' for excellence in educational software〔Malnig, Anita. ''(EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE - Antic's Top 18 Picks )''. Antic. Vol.3, No.6. October 1984. Pg.29.〕 and it is notable for being one of the earliest music video games to employ pitch-based gameplay in the ''Clef Climber'' portion of the game.〔Carousel Software.
